The Washington Post called him “the scientist who is now known as the leading microbiome researcher in the world.” He has published over 450 peer reviewed papers, his work has been cited over 21,000 times in the literature. He has been actively funded by the NIH continuously since 1991, for his work on the fungal and bacterial communities in our body with over $25 million in NIH funding to date .

Dr. Ghannoum lectures across the world on the microbiome, from the Pasteur Institute in France, to the NIH. And, he is also the founder of the antifungal clinical testing company, Next Trillion Sciences (NextTrillionSciences.com), and has been involved in the development of 95% of the antifungals that have come to market since the 1990’s.

On today’s podcast, we discuss the difference between the microbiome and the mycobiome and how these play a role in your health, including your gut, brain and skin health.
